Dear Friend,
Welcome to the first newsletter of 2025, a very big year for CHASE Africa as it marks our 25th Anniversary.
Over the course of the year we'll take you back to moments that have made the charity what it is and our vision for the future, advancing health and wellbeing for those communities in the most remote areas of East Africa.
2000-2025
CHASE Africa began life in 2000 planting trees in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, promoting reforestation, water harvesting and fuel-efficient stoves enabling communities to maintain, and benefit, from the natural resources around them.
Over time it became clear that many women within the communities were facing wider challenges, including a lack of access to healthcare and a high unmet need for family planning. This was leading to a cycle of poverty.
In 2012, CHASE Africa shifted its focus to support local partners across East Africa to improve community healthcare, provide health information, improve the rights of women and girls and remove barriers to family planning.
To date CHASE Africa has:
· Delivered over 1,476,000 Primary Healthcare services
· Trained and supported over 500 healthcare providers
· Delivered over 605,700 family planning services
· Distributed over 4,766,000 condoms

Our Work in Action

We recently visited two important outreach projects in the remote fishing communities of the Pawor and Rigbo sub-counties in Uganda. Both areas rely on the River Nile for their livelihoods, with fishing being the main economic activity.
