We improve women’s health and wellbeing, and that of their families.

Our community health programmes break down barriers that prevent women accessing health services and realising their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. By addressing the unmet need for family planning, not only can we improve women’s health, but also enable them to participate in activities that bring wider economic and social benefits.

"CHASE Africa offers women choice over their own bodies. It also empowers them, giving them the opportunity to earn a living and pass this on to their children."

Why we bring vital healthcare services to women

Saving lives
and improving wellbeing

We enhance healthcare access and knowledge, saving lives. We improve maternal and child health with antenatal and postnatal care, skilled deliveries, and STI/HIV testing. Our community health programmes combat illness, expand immunisations, offer nutritional aid, and deliver basic curative care.

Meeting the unmet need for family planning

Access to contraception gives women control over the number and timing of their pregnancies. This choice lowers teen pregnancy and unsafe abortion rates, averting complications. Birth spacing reduces health risks, and enables women to pursue education and income-generating activities, fostering long-term empowerment for women and girls.

Promoting gender equality and women’s rights

We advocate for women's rights by educating the whole community on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and removing barriers to family planning. Our programmes combat stigma and myths, and challenge harmful cultural practices like FGM, early marriage and teenage pregnancy, encouraging change at community level.

How we make
women healthier

Information provision
and awareness raising

Providing information and raising awareness is a vital first step to improving health-seeking behaviour. Our local partners encourage discussions to challenge and change long held beliefs and traditions. Our programmes engage the local community through community dialogues, home visits by networks of Community Health Workers and child rights clubs held in schools.

Accessible and equitable healthcare

We ensure women and girls can access vital healthcare, including family planning, where they need it. Through outreach clinics and Backpack Nurses, we bring services to remote areas. Our mobile services cater to groups who are marginalised, like those with disabilities. We reach young people and adolescents by providing private and safe spaces for youth-friendly services.

Strengthening existing
healthcare services

In the rural communities where we work, most health facilities are run by the Ministry of Health but are often under-resourced. We collaborate with our local partners to enhance facility capabilities, including equipment, utilities and staff training. Advocating for drug and commodity supplies, we strengthen the capacity of local government infrastructure for better healthcare provision.
