Established in 2010, Reproductive Health Network Kenya (RHNK) is a dedicated not-for-profit organisation that unites public and private trained reproductive health providers. Their mission is rooted in the commitment to delivering comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights, advocacy, and service provision.
RHNK addresses sexual and reproductive health service delivery challenges in Kenya, such as commodity shortages, lack of access to health centres, and inadequate policy enforcement. Moreover, RHNK engages in evidence-based advocacy, partnering with both public - private sector actors and community leaders (e.g. religious and cross-generational leaders) to push for reforms that promote sexual and reproductive health as a human right.
At RHNK, the Adolescents and Youth Programme, has over 200 youth peer providers, professionally trained to provide youth-centric interventions that deliver SRHR information, referrals and services. Focused on peri-urban areas, this initiative advocates for the rights of Kenya’s significantly high percentage of youth population.
As part of a Global Health Workforce Programme (GHWP) grant by THET Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET), CHASE Africa is collaborating with RHNK and one of our long-term local partners, Mount Kenya Trust, and the Ministry of Health. Our project will improve the confidence and practice of Healthcare Workers, so that we can enhance the quality of care offered to clients accessing Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health services in Meru County.
The project is funded through the Global Health Workforce Programme, which is funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for the benefit of the UK and partner country health sectors.
