We are collaborating with one of our long-term local partners, Mount Kenya Trust, and a new partner, Reproductive Health Network Kenya. Our project will improve the confidence and practice of Healthcare Workers, so that we can enhance the quality of care offered to clients accessing Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health services in Meru County.
Meru County has one of highest rates of teenage pregnancy in Kenya where 26% of pregnancies are among girls aged 10-19 years old.
Prior to our project, Health Workers didn't have any training in Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health. The project will ensure 160 Nurses and Community Health Workers from 10 facilities will have improved knowledge and practices. We hope to reach 45,000 patients over nine months.
One of our Programmes & Partnership Managers, Georgia Burford, speaks with Community Health Workers about Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Tigania Central Sub County, Meru.
In February 2024, staff Mount Kenya Trust and Reproductive Health Network Kenya attended an inception meeting in Nairobi.
The teams met with key stakeholders and other successful grantees of the Global Health Workforce Programme in Kenya ahead of the launch of the project.
The Global Health Workforce Programme (GHWP), funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) supports the health workforce in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria to build stronger, more resilient health systems for post-pandemic recovery and to make progress towards universal health coverage.
The Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET)’s Programme is providing £8.9m through 33 health partnerships. CHASE Africa is delighted to be one of the grantees!
We look forward to keeping you updated!
